Flint Institute of Arts
The Flint Institute of Arts is the second largest art museum in the State of Michigan and one of the largest museum art schools in the nation. Each year, more than 160,000 people visit the FIA’s galleries (free of charge) and participate in FIA programs and services.
For more than 85 years, the FIA has been responsible for acquiring, protecting and presenting a collection of art and artifacts spanning continents and 5,000 years. The world renowned collection, which now exceeds 8,000 objects, is significant for its depth of important European and American paintings and sculptures, 15th century to the present, and its extensive holdings of decorative and applied arts including important ethnographic study collections dating back five millennia.

Each year, The Whiting Presents Broadway, music, dance, theatre, comedy, and much more throughout its season. Past performances include Bill Cosby, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, STOMP, Pat Benatar, Itzhak Perlman, Martin Short, Hairspray, Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy, Jeff Daniels and many more!
The Whiting is also home to the Flint Symphony Orchestra, Flint Youth Theatre's Learning Through Theatre Series and many other community graduations and recitals. The Whiting provides facilities, programs and services to promote and support the presentation of the best regional, national and international performing artists. Each year, The Whiting Presents Broadway, music, comedy, theatre, dance and much more throughout its season. Flint Farmer's Market
We are a year round public market with 50 vendors inside the building; we’re neat and clean and feature several produce vendors, a great meat market, poultry, breads and baked goods, cheese, a wine shop, an art gallery, a cafe, middle-eastern and Mexican groceries, and many unique gifts. We even have two resident chefs. You can stop in any Saturday and “Ask the Chefs.” On the outside from May through October, we have twenty five produce and flower vendors in our pavilion, and on Saturdays we add fifteen to twenty art and craft vendors to that list. We have great local, live music on the lawn most market days, story tellers and authors and several major events throughout the summer.Our market is more than a weekend event. It is a year round feature of Flint’s landscape. Our market is a place where everyone knows he or she can make a quality purchase, feel comfortable and welcome, and probably meet friends they haven’t seen in a while.
So make it a date, spend the day and enjoy the sights, sounds, tastes and the smells of the Flint Farmers’ Market!

Longway Planetarium
Fly through the solar system, investigate the mysteries of deep space, and even go 85 million years in the past. The all new Longway Planetarium has been radically updated with new seats, new dome, new 7.1 surround sound system, new cove lights and a new cutting edge projections system, the first of its kind in the United States! Michigan’s largest planetarium offers public and group shows every day. In addition, hands-on science activities and special exhibits are presented throughout the year. The Longway Planetarium’s Learning Center provides opportunities for fascinating new learning experiences. These include hands-on science demonstrations, astronomy classes or telescope workshops.
