Pulmonary Associates, P.C. physicians have years of experience with broad educational backgrounds and training from institutions such as Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Michigan; Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, St. John Hospital and Medical Center, Detroit, Michigan; Harbor Hospital Center, Baltimore, Maryland; Brooklyn Cumberland Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York; and State University of New York, Upstate Medical Center.

In Medicine, especially Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine as well as in Sleep Medicine, Experience is very important. Our Senior Physician has been in practice for over 25 years, and nearly all of our physicians have been in practice for over 10 years. Combined, Pulmonary Associates has over 75 years of combined experience to best diagnose and treat nearly any patient.

Our Physicians have and continue to be leaders in the community. They serve as the Medical Directors of the Intensive Care Units in Flint, Michigan; At McLaren Regional Medial Center and Hurley Regional Medical Center. Dr. Varkey Thomas, M.D.

Dr. Thomas, the senior member of Pulmonary Associates, has been in practice for over 25 years. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Thomas also serves as Director of the Intensive Care Unit as Hurley Medical Center. Dr. Thomas completed his Internal Medicine Specialty Training at the Brooklyn Cumberland Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He then completed subspecialty training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at State University of New York, Upstate Medical Center.

Dr. Frazer Wadenstorer, M.D.

Serving Patients & The Community


Dr. Wadenstorer, one of the senior member of Pulmonary Associates, is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Sleep Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Palliative Care. He is one of a select few physicians to be certified in five areas of expertise. Dr. Wadenstorer completed both his Internal Medicine specialty training and Pulmonary Subspecialty Training at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Michigan. He also received sleep training in sleep disorders medicine at Akran General Medical Center in Akran, Ohio. His special interests include Lung Nodules, Lung Cancer, and COPD.

Dr. Orlando Filos, M.D.

Dedication and Compassion


Dr. Filos is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine. He is the Director of the Pulmonary Function Laboratory at Hurley Medical Center, Flint, Michigan; he also supervises and interprets cardiopulmonary stress tests at Hurley Medical Center. Dr. Filos completed both his Internal Medicine specialty training and Pulmonary and Critical Care subspecialty training at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Michigan.

Dr. James John Vyskocil, M.D.

Reaching a Higher Standard


James John Vyskocil, M.D. is a clinical faculty member and is in private group practice at McLaren Regional Medical Center and Hurley Hospital in Flint, Michigan. He also serves as clinical faculty and is an Associate Professor at Michigan State University School of Medicine. Dr. Vyskocil received a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Detroit, and his M.D. degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. He served his internal medicine internship and residency at St. John Hospital in Detroit. Dr. Vyskocil completed his fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine and was chief fellow at Wayne State University. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in the subspecialties in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine.

Dr. Piyush Patel, M.D., FCCP

Dr. Patel completed his specialty training in Internal Medicine at Harbor Hospital Center, Baltimore, Maryland. He then completed his subspecialty training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Patel is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Sleep Medicine, and Palliative & Hospice Medicine. He currently serves as Associate Professor - Dept. of Medicine at MSU College of Human Medicine, Medical Director of Hurley Sleep Diagnostics Center, Co-Medical Director/Pulmonary Director for Select Specialty Hospital, and Co-Medical Director of McLaren Pulmonary Rehab. Program.

Dr. Elfateh Seedahmed, M.D.

Dr. Seedahmed completed his specialty training in Internal Medicine at Hurley Medical Center, Flint, Michigan. He then completed his subspecialty training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University Of Utah Hospitals and Clinics, Salt Lake City, Utah. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine. He also serves as Associate Professor - Dept. of Medicine at MSU College of Human Medicine.

Dr. Niraj Parikh, M.D.

Dr. Parikh is board certified in internal medicine, sleep medicine, pulmonary medicine, and critical care medicine. He completed his fellowships at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He is a clinical assistant professor at Michigan State University. His special interest is in Sleep medicine.

Dr. Arul Chandran

Dr. Chandran completed both his specialty training in Internal Medicine and his subspecialty training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Missouri, Columbia. He is part of several Professional Societies which include the American College of Chest Physicians, Society of Critical Care Medicine and the American Thoracic Society. Dr. Chandran has also served as part of the faculty in the Midwest Introductory Pleural and Bronchoscopic Procedures Course for the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota.
